Sustainable Schools

As the name implies the CERES Energy Trailer is a mobile, sustainable energy trailer which focuses on renewable energy technologies, such as solar, solar‐thermal, wind and hydro energy. It provides a wonderful tool to send out to schools and community festivals to demonstrate solutions to our current global issues and the benefits of renewable energy.

The CERES Energy trailer has a number of interactive displays that are suitable for Grade 3 students up to adult groups. It is accompanied by an experienced energy facilitator to answer questions and run presentations if required.

 Interactive displays include: 

• A solar/wind powered ‘stand alone’ energy system
• Electricity generating wind turbine Southern Cross windmill
• Working micro‐hydro power generation system
• Working model of coal fired power station
• Solar water heaters and solar thermal (heat)
• A pyronometer to measure solar energy
• Solar water pumping
• Hand‐driven displays to understand how electricity is generated
• Workstations investigating the energy used for lig hting and appliances
• Fun products which utilise renewable energy technology
• A Model house which demonstrates the effects of insulation!
