Caulfield Primary School
Caulfield Primary School's beautiful playground upgrade has given us a chance to extend our outdoors curriculum. Involving children in the development and care of the gardens is a ‘living lesson’ in looking after the environment.
The school now has a water harvesting facility, which means we can further integrate sustainable environmental practices at school.
Children are inspired by the results of their efforts and the emerging gardens, set between groups of native trees, create a beautiful and shaded setting for outdoor play. The school gardens also allow us to extend the children’s study of science, healthy eating, and outdoor safety.
Children take part in many projects and excursions to build their awareness of the environment and sustainable living. At Caulfield Primary School, education about the environment aims to provide opportunities for action as well as understanding.
