What will the world be like in 2030, explore sustainability from a global perspective, do you want to create a school student action plan? Challenge your students to be more sustainable in their lives and be part of the solution.
3 – 6 Environmental Solutions
- Explore some of the major environmental issues which occur in today’s society due to the way we live
- Look at issues such as stormwater pollution, litter, waste disposal (landfill), water wastage and at higher levels, air pollution and climate change.
- Through interactive hands on activities, students will have the opportunity to see some of the underlying causes and negative effects of the way some things are done in our society.
- Consider the environmental issues affecting your local area
- Be part of the solution and explore some practical ideas on how to lessen your own personal impact on the environment

- Train student action teams in how to organise and carry out school sustainability projects
- With hands on and team action-based activities this incursion will empower students to create significant change within their school
- Be guided through an action planning process to prepare for an upcoming school year, a single term or a specific sustainability project.
- Provide students with real world opportunities to develop skills and knowledge about sustainability and the environment
Note: This incursion is designed to cater for a range of students, from those who love working in the garden to those who are in leadership positions.
3-6 Australia 2030
- Discover some possible futures for Australia, based on what actions we take in our lives and in society today.
- Explore different scenarios and discuss what kind of futures these kind of scenarios will produce.
- Discuss some of the unsustainable behaviours and processes that have developed within modern day society and what kind of future may occur if these continue to occur.
- Discuss how you would like your future to be and determine what you need to do in the present for that particular future to be attainable.
7 – 10 Sustainability – A Global Perspective
- Explore the concept of sustainability and how this concept fits in with modern day society
- Discover, through visual activities, that human development and dominance on earth has only occurred for a very short time in the history of the earth. In this short amount of time, humans have caused many environmental disasters.
- Explore the concept that most developed areas of the world are living in an unsustainable manner. If the entire world lived this way we would require more than one earth to sustain our lifestyles.
- Investigate resource depletion and distribution and discuss causes and consequences of this.
- Through hands on activities, students will explore causes and consequences of climate change which is directly related to the unsustainable way in which humans have been living
- Be part of the solution and determine some actions you can take in order to be part of the solution.
