Water Incursions

All
over the world, water is hugely precious resource. In Australia, much of our community is already taking steps to conserve it. Many schools are involved in auditing school water use and teaching their students how to conserve water at home. CERES Water Incursions are hugely complementary to this process!! Not only will you gain a wealth of knowledge but you will discover how to be part of the solution.
P-2 WaterCyclists
- Use props and costumes to learn about the watercycle.
- Use interactive displays and examples to show how much water we use, what we use it for and why we have to be so careful with this precious resource.
- Introduces students to ways of conserving water at school & home
3-6 and 7- 10 Water Use In Australia
- By using a mega floor map of Australia, students are encouraged to be part of this presentation! Explore the issue of Australia’s water scarcity and drought.
- Discover and discuss how climate change can affect rainfall patterns in Australia and consider how these changes will affect the lives of people nationally.
- Assess Australia’s current water resources and usage in a time of climate change and drought.
- Discuss the effects of diminishing water supplies on different groups in Australia.
- Be challenged to create some large scale solutions to tackle this problem
7-10 Local Waterway Health
- Use water quality testing equipment to assess the quality of your local waterway by undertaking a number of chemical and physical tests.
- Explore the properties and quality of your local waterway by inve stigating and surveying the mini-beasts that live there.
- Discuss waterway pollution and discover what contributes to unhealthy waterways.
- Discover what actions you can take to improve the quality of this precious resource.
