The following at home audits allow students to explore the use of resources such as Energy, Water, Waste and level of Biodiversity at home while the audit lesson plans allow teachers to facilitate audits of these resources within a classroom environment.

Home Garden Biodiversity Audit

Look at all the plants, animals and insects that visit your backyard, before you start, watch what these kids found in their yard. You can use you can use our biodiversity audit sheet to collect your audit information. Think about ways you can bring more biodiversity into your own home and garden and work together with your class or family to create an action plan.

Home Bin Audit

How much waste does your house produce every day? Do a waste audit of the bins in your home, you can use our Home Bin Audit sheet to record what you find in the bins. You can make a pie graph from your results! Do any of these common items appear in your rubbish? Sustainability Victoria has some alternatives you might like to use.

Home Water Audit

The existence of water is essential for life on Earth, so are we washing too much water down the drain? A home water audit provides a fun and educational way to investigate ways that water is used every day, determine which areas of the home may be using the most water, and brainstorm ways in which it can be conserved!

Home Energy Audit

Are your lights left on when you leave the room? Is your heater running too high? Is cool air escaping through small cracks under your doors? Lets undertake a home energy audit to help us understand where and when our energy (electricity) is used, and find ways to reduce it!

This lesson allows students to investigate how energy is used at home and identify where action can be taken to reduce energy use.
