Professional Learning and Events

Our Professional Learning workshops are available for group bookings and are suitable for schools, centres, TEN meetings, community and business workshops, and events. Workshops are delivered by our dynamic and engaging educators to assist with professional learning and sustainability. The sessions are informative, empowering and include hands-on activities that can be used in schools and early childhood centres.

ResourceSmart Schools helps over 1,000 schools develop a whole-school approach to sustainability. CERES helped create this award-winning program and has been delivering it for over 10 years. In this workshop participants will learn what is involved in ResourceSmart Schools, what other schools have achieved, and hands-on experience with different tools that help a school become more environmentally-friendly.

Climate change is a pressing issue facing all walks of life, and the children at your centre probably have questions about it! It’s not however the easiest issue to explain. Learn about the current science and the strategies to talk to young children to help empower them to understand not only what climate change is all about—but also what they can do to help.

This workshop will guide you through the process of creating a zero waste policy at your school, providing you with a templated example to adapt to suit your own school. We will also explore what this implemented policy looks like across your school community.

This workshop introduces the elements of Education for Sustainability – Heart, Head, Hands. The workshop focusses on how to engage children in nature play, have some fun with hands-on activities and learn what other centres are doing to reduce their impact on the Earth. There will also be time to think about opportunities to enhance the sustainability programs at your centre.

Progress on environmental action is often overshadowed by the climate impacts occurring around the world. This workshop is designed to showcase some of the victories towards improving the climate, celebrate those making change and inspire you to take individual action, thereby strengthening the collective whole.

This workshop will assist career counsellors, teaching staff and secondary students to learn about the many and varied Green Jobs – which are some of the fastest growing jobs in Australia. We will provide information about some of these exciting jobs and meet some people working in Green Jobs here in Victoria – from marine biology to renewable energy! We look forward to sharing this information with you and inspiring you to consider careers in jobs that contribute to a safer planet.

Developing a heart connection to nature in the formative years is imperative to raising empowered and active citizens. In addition, there are many studies highlighting its benefits to children’s mental health, development and critical learning. Through this online webinar learn about the benefits of Nature Play, how to introduce a nature play/ connection program and some nature immersion activities to help you introduce nature play at your service/ school.

This workshop provides an introduction into learning outdoors and using its benefits to improve student wellbeing. The workshop will provide tangible ways to take learning outside and create connections with your school’s wellbeing program.

This popular workshop shares the tips and tricks for writing a successful grant application. We will also explore the types of grants that are available and where to find them, read successful applications and learn how to add some sparkle so your application stands out.

This workshop guides teachers and schools on how they can move towards a zero-waste canteen. The workshop is designed to provide the knowledge and inspiration to implement changes in a school setting, with practical tools that can be used to increase responsible consumption and understanding of the circular economy.

This workshop will guide teachers and schools through the concepts of urban farming and the skills, knowledge and benefits that it’s practices can bring. We will explore some tips and tricks to get your school started, as well as showcase schools excelling in the urban farming space.

These sessions are designed for the schools who are wanting to kickstart their sustainability journey (whether new or re-engaging!), and are an open question and answer structure. There won’t be a formal presentation during these sessions, they are simply open for you to reach out, ask questions and get active in the program! So, if you only have one question and one thing to upload, we can help you do that during the session.
