Project Description


Land programs focus on natural processes and how humans, animals and the land interact with each other and including the exploration of sustainable agriculture.

Duration of activities: ~ 50 minutes
Available for: Foundation to Grade 2


You can mix and match activities from two different programs.

  • Become a meteorologist and discover how to manually measure and interpret the weather at CERES using weather instruments, gadgets and sensory observation
  • Measure, observe and experience weather, seasons and changes
  • Explore why it is important to understand the different seasons and major weather types and their connections
  • Look at weather and seasons and the way different cultural groups describe them, name and order of months and Aboriginal six seasons
  • How weather patterns affect plants and animals (including humans) and biodiversity
  • Reactions to sensory elements of weather, place and environment
  • Explore the natural surrounds and identify the art of nature
  • Learn how humans have mimicked natural patterns in design
  • Discover the major patterns in the environment
  • Learn and create different patterns and symmetric shapes
  • Explore CERES vegetable gardens, identify plants using 4/5 human senses
  • Discover the diversity of life in the garden, from soil-plants-animals
  • Participate in companion planting, learn how plants can benefit each other
  • Explore how people change environments, and create and design solutions to grow food!
