2014 Premier’s Sustainability Awards Education Winner – St Louis de Montfort’s – urges others to enter this year

St Louis de Montfort’s Primary School in Aspendale won the Education Award in the 2014 Premier’s Sustainability Awards for their work creating a one-of-a-kind educational precinct that supports their whole school approach to developing active environmental citizens.

St Louis’ Sustainable and Environmental Leader, Julie Wynne, is now encouraging other sustainability groups to enter the 2015 Premier’s Sustainability Awards.

“Receiving the Award highlighted our schools endeavours not only in our local community but in the wider community. It presented St Louis as an exemplary school in sustainable education,” she says.

“Another great thing about the awards are that they recognise and reward the efforts of people who are doing good things in the community. Being part of the awards also enabled us the opportunity to meet, mix and build relationships with other likeminded people that were doing great things in sustainability.

The night itself is very exciting especially when you win!”

Sustainability Victoria CEO, Stan Krpan, congratulated the St Louis de Montfort’s team for their innovative work, saying they were an excellent example of leadership in sustainability.

Now in their 13th year, the Premier’s Sustainability Awards continue to promote leadership and innovation in sustainability, and encourage a broader adoption of these practices by all Victorians.

There are 10 categories in this year’s awards program, of which two are completely new – Health and Environmental Justice. Other categories include; Built Environment, Community, Education, Environmental Protection, Government, Innovative Products or Services, Large Business, and Small and Medium Enterprises.
