Please spare 10-15 minutes for EfS

The Australian Education for Sustainability Alliance (AESA) is about to commence further research about Education for Sustainability in Australian Schools.

Earlier research conducted on behalf of AESA in 2014 suggested that 40% of nearly 5000 teachers who responded to the survey lacked awareness of Education for Sustainability in the Australian Curriculum and a further 40% didn’t understand Education for Sustainability.

Lonergan Research

In Phase 4 of the Education for Sustainability in the Australian Curriculum Project there is an opportunity for teachers to contribute to the development of the Teachers guide for EfS. This is a key recommendation from the earlier research.

Early in Term 2, Lonergan Research will be recruiting teachers for two purposes:

  1. Teachers who are not engaged in teaching EfS are being recruited to participate in two focus groups in Melbourne on Wednesday 22nd April, 2015 from 5 – 6.30 and 7.15 – 8.45pm. These focus groups will be held at the ACF offices in Carlton. These teachers will be asked to provide feedback on a guide for teachers on EfS. If you are interested in taking part in this research, please click on the following link to find out if you qualify to take part: http://sgiz.mobi/s3/698-MEL

  2. Teachers who are engaged in EfS are being recruited to participate in a 15 minute online survey regarding the usability of EfS related websites to inform the development of a resource for other teachers who may not yet be incorporating EfS in their classrooms and schools.

The primary objective of the survey is to evaluate the efficacy of a variety of online and offline resources designed to assist teachers with integrating sustainability into their teaching practices.Z

Results from this survey will be used to assist the ACF with the development of suitable resources to assist non-engaged teachers with integrating sustainability into their teaching practices.

The survey will take less than 15 minutes to complete: http://sgiz.mobi/s3/698quant
Please complete the survey as soon as you can and by no later than Friday 15th May.

After collating survey responses we will include the best EfS websites into the guide to inspire teachers who have not yet engaged with EfS in their classrooms and schools. The survey results will also provide input into the report for organisations who are developing EfS resources.

This is an opportunity to have your voice heard and tell us about websites you use for EfS and what you would be useful for other organisations to include when developing teacher resources around EfS.

Lonergan Research will also recruiting through the AEU and IEU membership for this survey.
