Being Water Wise at GIPS

At GIPS we are being water wise. Our ‘Waste Busters’ student action leadership team (SALT) have placed water buckets underneath our drink taps to catch any wasted water which is run off. These buckets catch the water that would otherwise go down the drain and into our storm water system.

At the end of recess and lunchtimes, out ‘Waste Busters’ empty these water buckets on our newly planted shrubs and veggie gardens.

We regularly monitor our water use on the SWEPs page and are hoping to see over the next 6-12 months a reduction in our water use as a result of this initiative. We will continue to provide updates at school assemblies on our water achievements!
