Biodiversity at Templestowe Heights

The children at Templestowe Heights Primary School continue to work hard to encourage biodiversity throughout the schoolgrounds.

The students
· Take part in Tree Day each year
· Plant a variety of plants to attract different bird and insect species
· Provide habitats for animals (fallen logs, trees, gardens etc)
· Made nestingboxes to house a variety of animals
· Made and maintain a Herb Gardens
· Learn about biodiversity in Integrated Units at their level within the classroom.
The Environmental Captains from Templestowe Heights Primary School recently took part in a Revegetation Day at Bolin Bolin Billabong supported by Greening Australia.
Bolin Bolin Billabong, located on the Middle Yarra in Bulleen, is one of the few remaining billabongs along the metropolitan course of the Yarra River, and is an extremely significant place both culturally and biologically.
The following reports were written by the children who attended, and appeared in our ‘Environmental News’ magazine.
