Late last year, Leah, a representative from CERES, came out to our school and worked with the middle school students. In cohesion, they completed a Biodiversity audit and discovered the school is thriving in this aspect of Sustainability. The students and Leah discovered that the school offers many animal habitats and has lots of native plants and trees. Leah also commented on how the school has increased the number of plants and trees that have been planted. Further to this, Leah suggested a way in which we could further improve our practice would be to implement more places for insects, reptiles and birds to habitat. We have since, purchased some insect hotels and bird boxes and in a few weeks a representative from St Monica’s high school will be helping us install these with the middle school students. With this in place we aim to further improve biodiversity in our school.
