Biodiversity Learning Story- Our Journey So Far…
Here is our final post about our progress so far:
Biodiversity:
We began to focus on the biodiversity module in 2017 and completed this module in late 2019.
- We implemented yearly audits of our school grounds. Our Garden Club has continued to improve the grounds in our school, choosing indigenous plants where possible.
- The school improved the space between the two main school buildings with support from our school community in designing a rain garden. This garden full of beautiful indigenous plants and is self-watering.
- The Planet Savers also created a butterfly garden, using old bins which they painted and then planted succulents with the help of Garden Club.
Our biodiversity score in 2019 was 47 out of 100.
Continuing to improve this score and the look of our school grounds is a priority for the sustainability team in the future.
