Clean Up Australia Day 2021 @ LPS

On Thursday the 4th of March, our school participated in a Clean Up Australia Day event. As a school community, we picked up a whopping 2455 pieces of rubbish around our school grounds, saving them from ending up in our waterways and oceans. Our Year 4 cohort alone picked up, sorted and counted 987 pieces of rubbish.
As is often seen in the environment, soft plastics, such as chip packets and zip lock bags, were our largest find, with 710 individual pieces of soft plastic located around our school grounds.

We will use this experience to continue encouraging our students and their families to purchase food with little to no packing, avoiding single use plastics and to bring nude food to school each day, as outlined in our nude food school policy.
