On the last day of Term 1, William Ruthven Primary School celebrated Earth Hour Day.
After recess, the environmental leaders met with each class in the Foundation to grade 4 areas and showed students how to turn off computers and light switches. They discussed with the classes the importance of conserving our electricity.
The whole school then came into our middle area for an assembly for Earth Hour. The environmental leaders stood in front of the school and spoke a little about what Earth Hour was. The school watched a video about Earth Hour and then we shut off the lights to the main building.
Students from various year levels did different activities without using any electricity. Some students made signs to place around our school encouraging students and teachers to turn off at the switches and not use lights when we don’t really need them.
Our environmental leaders helped students around the school with their activities and taught them more about being more conscious of how they use electricity.
