Last Friday 29th February we celebrated our first ever GREEN DAY at Carlton North Primary School. This day, which also combined with Clean Up Australia Day, was a way for our students to celebrate sustainability, contribute to helping the environment and raise funds for our school. We raised a total of $264, a great result!
Students were encouraged to dress up in a sustainable themed costume, including green clothing, animals, nature… even compost! We were so proud of our wonderful students as they participated in Green Day with excitement and enthusiasm.
As part of Clean Up Australia Day, all students from Foundation to Year 6 participated in a community rubbish pick up. Foundation students focused on the CNPS grounds learning about the different bins at our school, including recycling, landfill, green bins and compost bins. Year 1/2 students cleaned up the perimeter of our beautiful school, focusing on the street, fence line and gutters. Year 3-6 students went over to Curtain Square, and also focused on the streets along the way.
