Hawthorn West PS – Core Module Case Study

‘Children need to touch the earth, to be touched by it’

Hawthorn West Primary School (HWPS) was established in 1853. We border the Yarra River and boast a blend of historical buildings and modern architecture, built with a sustainable focus.

The student population is 375 from Prep to Year 6.

The school has fostered sustainable practises this past decade and in 2011, we commenced the ResourceSmart AuSSI Vic Core Module. We established a sustainable ‘Green Team’, a selection of 2 children per class from Years 3-6, who educate and inform their peers about up-coming sustainable events or issues.
