Mobile Gardens – St Joseph’s West Brunswick

St Joseph’s Primary School, has established the idea of mobile gardens. We have involved the community by asking families, if they have old disused wheelbarrow to donate them to the school for reuse. The wheelbarrows which have been donated so far have been painted with the help of parents and planted with an array of suitable and interesting plants. This is part of a program where parents have been involved in planting in the front of the school and using wine barrels as planters. This has been an extension of the wheelbarrow concept.

The school celebrated its 150th year and is situated in the urban suburb of West Brunswick. The established school has begun it’s ResourceSmart AuSSI Vic journey supported by CERES. This has allowed the school to assess its prior achievements and develop a plan for action into the future. 2012 student leaders have been interviewed and will report on last year’s progress across the school and review the action plan for 2012.
