National Plant-aTree-Day

On the 16th of July 2014 Rowville Secondary College students participated in National-Plant-A-Tree Day, working with Knox Council to revegetate the Taylor’s Lane environmental space opposite Kellett’s Road in Rowville.

Students planted in excess of 600 native grasses, ferns and supporting undergrowth shrubbery. This project attempted to re-establish habitat for small animals that serve as prey for various species of Native Owl whilst also providing a new habitat for insects that serve as an important food source for other native birds and fauna.

Student leaders within the Environmental portfolio were heavily involved in the day, as well as several other dedicated student volunteers across multiple year levels and both campuses. It was an amazing experience for all involved and our students are eager to find more similar projects to immerse themselves in. Great work Team Rowville!
