Congratulations to St. Louis de Montfort Primary School in Aspendale for being one of the latest schools to receive 5 Star ResourceSmart Certification for their Sustainability Precinct.
This award-winning facility at St. Louis de Montfort Primary School was developed two years ago and features an outdoor kitchen, vegetable gardens, compost, worm farms, a propagating house, wetlands, permaculture area, aquaponics, an orchard and animal enclosures.
The Precinct is recognised as one of the best school-based sustainability projects in Victoria and has won the school several awards.
“This one-of-a-kind facility provides students with an opportunity to gain a powerful understanding of sustainability from the ground up,” says Minister for Education, James Merlino.
The 5 Star Sustainability Certification represents a big milestone on the school’s sustainability journey, and recognises the hard work of teachers, staff and students at St Louis de Montfort Primary School.
