Sustainable Gardening Day

Wednesday August 17th marked the 2nd annual Sustainable Gardening Day at St Peter’s Primary School.

Dozens of new plants and shrubs were added to the school’s growing gardens and a scarecrow or 2 popped up for the occasion. Activities on the day included a compost incursion for the juniors, a South East Water incursion for the middle school and the senior students taught their buddies a thing or two about planting.

Students and staff donned their gardening clothes and gloves for the day and the afternoon finished off with an interactive quiz about waste and a sing-along.

Students were buzzing by the day’s end and could be heard singing ‘Reduce, Reuse, Recycle’ all the way down Centre Road. Who knows what the 2012 Sustainable Gardening Day will hold…
