Throughout the year, the Year 11 and 12 VCAL students had been working towards improving the sustainability and the biodiversity of the College. On Thursday 23 November student representatives, Tammy Williams, Angeline Yeong, Jack Howe and Angus Chen from Year 11 VCAL attended the 40th Annual Victorian Schools Garden Awards Presentation Ceremony. The college was delighted to receive a $1000 voucher from Nursery and Garden Industry Victoria for the ‘Best School Exhibiting Biodiversity Award.’ The Year 11 and 12 VCAL students major project for 2017 was in the area of sustainability and biodiversity with the theme ‘Helping our Community to Flourish’. The VCAL students made bird boxes, planted indigenous plants to attract insect and birdlife as well as rehabilitating a pond within the school grounds. Thank you to our sponsors for this project Knox Rotary Club, Bunnings Warehouse Scoresby and the Knox Environmental Society.
