Watering the garden with leftover drinking water.

Encouraging sustainable practices –

Each day after the Starfish children have had their lunch it is necessary that their cups are sent back to the kitchen with the lunch trolley and are put through the dishwasher for washing. Sometimes there may be some leftover water in their bottles and in the past educators tip this water into a bucket and the water is then reused for other practices. In the last few weeks the children have been taking responsibility of their own drink bottles and very excitedly using this water to shower our much loved garden. We also then repeat this practice at the end of the day.

The children just love being a part of our everyday practices and routines and thrive at these opportunities to look after their environment.
