What I know about water

In the Foundation, One, Two area the children have been investigating water and what they already know. Prior to their incursion with Yarra Valley Water next week they started to document their current thinking. The following ideas were provided by Kamryn and Anna. The girls have put forward some excellent ideas for our valuable resource and how to conserve it.

What I know about water… Kamryn

We shouldn’t waste water but drink some water so you don’t get dehydrated.

We use water to drink, have a shower, water the plants and wash the dishes and other stuff.

If you have a pool, fill it up only half way and not full to the top.

Have a 3 minute shower or bath to not waste water.

Don’t use too much water when you are having a bath and turn off the tap when you are brushing your teeth.

Only start the dishwasher when it is full.

Don’t drink rain water because it’s dirty and then you could get really sick.

Press the half flush.

Use a little water because other countries that don’t have water will be sad and it costs money.

What I know about water… Anna

I know that the black water is made from all you wee and poo.

I know that the grey water is from the sinks.

I know that the water travels in pipes.

I know there are some rivers and lakes you cannot swim, fish or go boating because it is drinking water.

I know that some things have to be done before you can drink water- like it needs to be purified.
