Woolworths Junior Landcare Grant.

Kunyung Primary School are very excited to announce that we have been selected as a recipient of a Woolworths Junior Landcare Grant.

The aim of our project is to establish soft plastic recycling into our school, starting with the younger prep grades, by purchasing special Eco Recycle Bins. This project has many positive impacts on the environment as students will be reducing the amount of waste going into our rubbish (landfill) bins, as well as collecting soft plastic that could be later recycled and reused. Having a new bin just for soft plastic will encourage students to put their chips and chocolate wrappers into the soft plastic bin, which will furthermore limit the amount of litter that is found outside in the school grounds. We would also like to shrink the size of our landfill bins (by replacing them with new, smaller Eco Landfill bins) in an attempt to further reduce our waste. Our school is situated in Mt. Eliza and only a 500m walk from the beach. Therefore, we are very conscious about our impacts on our natural surroundings and are always trying our best to limit our negative impact on the environment.
