Staff PD: Create a culture for change and school tour 

When: Thursday 22 February
Time: 4.30-6.45pm
Where: St Josephs Primary School, Malvern
Details: Learn how to increase the ability of children, students, staff and families to participate in new routines, projects and programs. Learn about behavioural science, hear stories from other teachers and get techniques that you can use to implement change. 
St Joseph’s staff will take you on a short ‘walk and talk’ showing the sustainability features of the school including their indigenous and veggie garden, bat box and hungry worm farm bins.

Staff PD: Scholarship Program delivered by Cool Australia 

Our Scholarship Program includes a wide range of fully subsidised Cool Australia online professional development courses.

Embed sustainability into your current curriculum, measure waste using Maths and teach about Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Histories and Cultures, all in just 1-2 hours.

  • Boost your PD hours

Teachers have access to the course for 12 months from the date of enrolment. Invite your colleagues and learn together.

School sponsorship: Kids Teaching Kids Conference

Kids Teaching Kids is a national, peer teaching program that uses the environment as a theme and focus for learning. Students research an environmental topic of interest and then deliver their environmental messages to peers.

Leadership Conference

Join our free Student Leadership Conference with Cool Australia on Friday 27 April 

The conference is a full day of activities, discussions and planning. Your students will:

  • Learn about sustainability through hands-on activities.
  • Explore what being a leader means to them.
  • Work with their team to plan and develop successful projects.
  • Chat with students from other schools about their ideas.
  • Develop personal and social capability skills

Free bus transport provided, if required.


Waste Wise Schools Program

Our new program can help your school reduce litter on school grounds, promote rubbish free and healthy lunches and explore options for recycling food waste

This free program includes:

  • teacher and student training including ‘train the trainer’ sessions
  • an initial and follow up school waste audit
  • development of a Waste Minimisation Action Plan
  • support to install infrastructure
  • resources and templates

Student leadership scholarship program

Tomorrows Leaders for Sustainability program supports an expert mentor to guide students through leadership training, problem-solving, research and the completion of a sustainability project. Learn more about the program and see what participating schools achieved last year.

Our 2018 Green Schools Program

Our 2018 Green Schools Program is filled with free hands-on educational experiences such as student leadership training, staff professional development sessions (online and face-to-face) and incursions and excursions on a range of topics including:

  • biodiversity,
  • water,
  • energy,
  • Indigenous culture,
  • gardening and
  • waste and recycling.
