Serendip Sanctuary, Lara – Education Centre

Serendip Sanctuary is an ideal venue for schools to explore and study the wetlands, woodlands and native grasslands of the Victoria’s western volcanic plains.

The sanctuary attracts over 150 free range species of birds and is home to a range of captive native animals.

Excursions to the sanctuary offer students an excellent opportunity to learn about native animals and their habitats as well as the captive breeding of endangered Victorian birds. Experienced staff are available to lead your school through curriculum based programs.

A wide range of ranger led or self guided activities and nature walks are available. Freshwater invertebrate studies using video and microscopes are also available and are enhanced by other environmental activities. Ranger led tours can be tailored to meet specific class requirements. There is a range of other resources available to help plan your visit.
