This World Environment Day, CERES is proud to support the 2020 ResourceSmart Schools Awards. We would like to congratulate all schools in the Northern, Southern and Eastern metro Melbourne regions and beyond who inspire their communities to act on climate change by leading sustainability action.

This year we engaged with 309 schools across the Northern, Southern and Eastern metro Melbourne regions to support them in their sustainability mission.

Minister for Energy, Environment and Climate Change Lily D’Ambrosio helped announce the winners of the ResourceSmart Schools Awards during an online awards ceremony and congratulated all Victorian schools for their contribution to ‘people and the planet’ – the theme for this year’s awards.

Schools across Victoria were recognised for efforts to protect the environment, inspire sustainability action in the community and reduce the environmental impact of their campuses. Winners were crowned across 11 categories.

ResourceSmart Schools is a Victorian Government program managed by Sustainability Victoria which embeds sustainability into school operations, the curriculum and within the local community. It has engaged more than 1400 schools across the state to collectively save more than $29 million and avoid the generation of more than 80,000 tonnes of greenhouse emissions.
